During their pamper time here with Lianne this is what will happen:

First of all they go on a walk before going into the grooming parlour where they will get a shower or a hydrobath (this massages the dog as it is being bathed. The dog is then blasted to wick the excess water away (a blaster is basically an industrial blower.) The blaster can be very noisy and is a little bit scary for dogs until they realise what is happening so this bit can take a bit of time as we do not rush and always go at the dogs pace to ensure they are happy and relaxed.

After that they are fluff or stretch dried (depending on breed and coat length and condition) which involves using a slicker brush and a big hair drier to ensure that the dog is completely dry and their fur is straight ready for clipping, hand stripping or scissoring. Again we go at the dogs pace for this process and they need to relax and realise it’s a very nice thing to have done.

The dog will go onto an electric table which will move them up and down (once they get to know what is happening they all enjoy a ride on this!

The dog needs to get used to standing on a table (no river dancing) and to assist with safety we use a padded belly strap and neck strap so they feel safe and secure on the table as we work. We then commence clipping the dogs hygiene areas and under their pads.

Nails are clipped and ears are cleaned. Clippers or whatever ever method has been discussed and agreed with the owner are then applied to ensure the dog is groomed to the desired length depending on breed style, coat condition and how well the dog behaves and lets Lianne work

Once groomed dog fragrance is applied and the dog is ready for home!

The grooming process can be very tiring (especially for young and older dogs) so we prefer to never give firm collection times as if your dog needs a rest or a walk we make sure they get one and we always work at a pace the dog is happy with.

If your dog needs desensitisation grooms due to not particularly liking the grooming process then we are more than happy to work with you to ensure that over time we get to a point where the dog is happier with the process. As each dog is an individual and it also depends on how much effort you put in at home, we cannot give a time scale as to how quickly your dog will begin to like being groomed (how long is that piece of string) so please bear that in mind.

All of our grooming customers are fully committed to ensuring their dogs are happy with being groomed and that it becomes a bonding process you both look forward to when you do groom at home in between professional grooming sessions with us. We are more than willing to provide you with a short free training session whereby we show you how to groom your dog correctly, how to hold them properly and what brushes, combs and conditioners etc you will need to ensure a good result from the effort you are putting in. Please note that this service needs to be booked in advance and you need to be committed to working with Lianne as she is giving up valuable time to show you what to do in order to get best results.

Our customers also book their appointments for the whole of the year or at least a few months in advance (to ensure they get their regular slots) but Lianne does sometimes take on new clients and have places available so if you wish your dog to get groomed here then text Lianne direct to book an initial consultation and after this then we can look at booking your dog in for an initial groom once their coat condition and style etc has been assessed and realistic goals have been agreed.

Please note that we only take on dogs for grooming when the owner is committed to regular grooming appointments. Please also note that there is a £25.00 none refundable charge for missed appointments that do not provide 48 hours notice.
